About us

We built the money app we wanted to use

Cashfield is made by Ovesyan Tech Inc., an independent company in Canada. This is why it exists, the rules it keeps, and where it is going.

Where it started

It began with a question we could never answer quickly about our own money: where did last month go?

The budgeting apps we tried wanted something first. Categories to create, rules to write, a budget for each of them, and an evening every week putting right what the app had filed wrong. The work was the product, and most months it didn’t get done.

Then Mint closed in 2024, and millions of people lost the one tool that did the boring part on its own. What came after mostly asked for more effort, not less.

And for anyone whose money lives in two countries, with a Canadian chequing account and a US credit card, most apps either ignored one of them or added the two together as if a Canadian dollar and a US dollar were the same money.

What we set out to build

An app you connect once and then simply read. No budget to fill in, no rules to write, no categories to invent. It should tell you what this month did, where the money went and what keeps repeating, and answer a question about any of it in plain words.

The hard part turned out not to be the screens. It was making the numbers right. Paying off a credit card isn’t new spending. Moving money into your own savings isn’t spending at all. A refund isn’t income. Get one of those wrong and a month looks twice as expensive as it was, and a total that is quietly wrong is worse than no total, because you believe it.

So that is where most of our work goes: into the rules that decide what counts, and into the tests that check them every time anything changes.

The rules we keep

The numbers have to be right

Every figure is worked out from what each transaction is, never guessed from its sign. When Cashfield can’t be sure, it says so instead of inventing an answer.

Your data is not the product

Cashfield is paid for by its subscription and nothing else. No ads, no data sales, no tracking across other apps.

No homework

Nothing to set up beyond connecting your bank. If a category is wrong, you fix it once and Cashfield remembers.

Honest about what it can’t see

A subscription’s next charge is expected, never due: Cashfield sees your transactions, not your contracts, and it never moves money.

Where we’re going

Cashfield will grow slowly and on purpose. Each of these arrives when it is right, and not before.

Business accounts, kept apart from your personal ones, so a side business never clouds your own month.

A yearly plan, for people who would rather pay once.

An Advisor for goals and budgets, for those who want one, built on the same figures as everything else.

Who we are

Cashfield is built and run by Ovesyan Tech Inc., an independent company in Canada, for people in the US and Canada. There are no advertisers to please, only the people who use it.
